The Rush Begins!

It's going to be a thrilling week; this book project has been in the works for four years, and now it can finally be shared with the whole country! There are lots of exciting events coming up:
  • I'm going to be on NPR with the legendary Jonathan Kozol on Thursday, August 23, on the Diane Rehm Show at 11am!
  • First signing (and launch party) tonight at the amazing Upper East Side Corner Bookstore.
  • My first TV interview was booked this morning---I'm going to be on the "10!" show on Tuesday, August 21 at 10am on Channel 10 in Philadelphia.

Welcome to my site!

Greetings! It's a pleasure to open up this blog, one that I hope will stir the debate and discourse on schools in America.

My book, The Great Expectations School: A Rookie Year in the New Blackboard Jungle, is slowly rolling out to bookstores across the country as I type this; the official publication date is August 20, so many places won't have it until then. (It's on Amazon.com, though, if you just can't wait!)

It's the calm before the storm. My first reading/signing is this Thursday the 16th at 6pm at the Upper East Side's Corner Bookstore (Madison & E. 93rd St.) That begins a minor flurry of appearances that I'll post on as they approach.
